Acoustica is a nifty audio editor, slightly different from other such programs. It has a nice looking interface, polished, warm and welcoming. Gives a feel of familiarity even from the first time you open it. It’s organized in such a manner that most users will keep the default panels as they are.
Usually, these types of applications can be intimidating at first but this one managed to make things easier. Very intuitive, it has a way of showing you clearly what it can do, how you can do it and where you can find a feature. The full screen mode that it offers, though it won’t give you too much extra space, does something interesting: it gives you an intimate feeling. The immersive experience is productive as it helps you become more focused.
It can process sound by cutting, pasting, trimming, converting, applying sound effects, using enhancements or VST plugins.
Extra attention has been given to the interface. The toolbar is very well organized, the icons are nicely drawn, the overall color scheme is comfortable for the eyes and the panels burst with activity as you start playing some sound.
Files and windows are organized in tabs, placed horizontally above the waveforms. This is a really good idea and makes it easy to switch between different views or files, greatly improving workflow.
Extra features include batch processing and converting files, extracting audio from various sources, filtering, cleaning sound and spectrum analysis.
It recognizes all the well known sound formats, such as mp3, wav, flac, ogg, aec and it can also extract audio from some video files.
Acoustica has something special going on, doing its best to “make you feel at home” and encourage you to work for hours on a project without getting stressed. Making everything accessible and as easy as possible, this sound editor is absolutely a must to try for everyone needing to craft some sound.
